Peplink Balance 580

Peplink Balance 580 is a rack-mount, enterprise multi-WAN router built to aggregate bandwidth and improve uptime across multiple internet links. It provides 5× Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports and 3× Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, and supports a maximum port configuration of 5 WAN with 3 LAN or 2 WAN with 6 LAN for flexible edge designs. Performance is specified at 1.5Gbps throughput, with SpeedFusion VPN (PepVPN) throughput of 200Mbps (no encryption) or 200Mbps with 256-bit AES.

With Peplink Balance 580, network control and segmentation are covered with Inter-VLAN routing and support for up to 1024 802.1Q VLANs, plus inbound load balancing for publishing services across multiple WANs. For traffic prioritization, the router supports bandwidth usage monitoring, QoS (VoIP and e-commerce), and user group bandwidth control. NetFlow support makes it easier to integrate with monitoring and reporting tools.

Security and access options include application and web blocking, plus full web content filtering. For VPN connectivity beyond SpeedFusion, the platform supports IPsec VPN with up to 100 tunnels, and includes L2TP/OpenVPN/PPTP VPN server capability with up to 100 users (with remote RADIUS/LDAP authentication support). Site-to-site OpenVPN tunnels (5) and GRE tunnels (5) are also supported.

On the hardware side, you get a USB WAN interface for compatible modem connectivity, along with enterprise features such as LACP (802.3ad) NIC bonding and jumbo frame support. The unit is rated for 0–40°C operation, uses 100–240V AC input, and comes in a 1U chassis measuring 16.8 × 12 × 1.73 inches ( 8.8 lb ).
