Peplink Balance 2500 EC

Peplink Balance 2500 EC is an enterprise SD-WAN router designed to serve large sites and regional networks that demand high throughput, multi-path resilience, and built-in edge computing. It is rated for 30Gbps router throughput and 10Gbps SpeedFusion VPN throughput (both no encryption and 256-bit AES), making it a strong fit for high-traffic hubs, campuses, and MSP cores. Recommended scale is 10,000–20,000+ users, with capacity to manage up to 2,000 controlled APs/switches.

Connectivity is built for multi-circuit design. The platform supports 0–16 Gigabit Ethernet ports configurable as WAN or LAN, plus 10G SFP+ ports (SFP ports are configurable as WAN or LAN). In practical deployments, this enables “many-uplink” architectures—Peplink highlights up to 20 WAN ports available—so you can combine diverse ISPs and transport types while maintaining policy control. USB connectivity is also available (1× USB WAN, with two USB ports present but only one usable for USB WAN at a time).

For uptime, Peplink Balance 2500 EC supports SpeedFusion capabilities such as Hot Failover, WAN Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding, and includes SpeedFusion Connect support (CarePlan includes complimentary SpeedFusion Connect usage data). It also supports SpeedFusion Relay Mode (Server) for advanced topologies.

On the security and segmentation side, you get inter-VLAN routing with up to 1024 VLANs, application and web blocking, and full web content filtering, plus enterprise essentials like Drop-In Mode, High Availability, LAN Bypass, IPv6, and NetFlow support. For VPN scale, it supports 4,000 SpeedFusion peers, 1,000 IPsec tunnels, and up to 1,000 remote users (PPTP/L2TP/OpenVPN), with RADIUS/LDAP supported for remote-user authentication.

Where it stands out is edge capability: 1TB internal storage is supported for edge computing use (supporting applications, Docker, and KVM), helping you keep processing closer to users and reduce backhaul. Reliability is reinforced with dual hot-swappable power supplies in a 1U rack-mount chassis.
